Description
Diprovate®-G Plus Cream is a potent topical treatment manufactured by Avalon Pharma. It is used to cure infections of the skin, such as cellulitis and eczema among others, and relieve itching, swelling, pain, and other inflammatory symptoms. The active ingredients of Diprovate®-G Plus Cream are Betamethasone Dipropionate, Gentamicin, and Zinc Sulfate. Betamethasone Dipropionate is a synthetic corticosteroid of glucocorticoid class with immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory properties. Gentamicin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic of aminoglycoside class. Zinc Sulphate in an inorganic hydrate essential for healthy cells growth.
Indications:
- itching, swelling, rash, and irritation caused by allergic reactions
- skin and skin structure infections (cellulitis, burn wound infection)
- minor bacterial skin infection (folliculitis, furunculosis, impetigo, eczema, pyoderma gangrenosum, sycosis barbae, infectious eczematoid dermatitis, pustular acne, pustular psoriasis, infected seborrheic dermatitis, infected contact dermatitis, and infected excoriations)
MOA (mechanism of action):
Betamethasone Dipropionate activates the inhibitory proteins of phospholipase A2 and prevents the release of inflammatory agents, including histamine, eicosanoids, prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and cytokines. With these actions, Betamethasone Dipropionate reduces autoimmune reactions and inflammation. It is found superior if used alongside topical Zinc Sulfate.
Gentamicin inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria binding to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit and causing misreading of t-RNA, therefore ruins infecting bacteria overgrowth.
Zink Sulphate has wound-healing, and soothing properties. It prevents the release of keratinocyte-associated inflammatory mediators and mast cells (also known as mastocytes or labrocytes) degranulation, thereby reducing the secretion of histamine, an essential inducer of itching. It also causes re-epithelialization of partial thickness wounds and second-degree burns.
