Active Ingredient:
Description
Clindac-A® Gel is manufactured by Galderma. This medication comprises Clindamycin as an active ingredient. Clindamycin is a semisynthetic lincosamide antibiotic with bactericidal and bacteriostatic properties depending on the concentration. This antibiotic has strong antibacterial properties, therefore it is very effective in fighting acne.
Acne vulgaris is a common skin disease, especially in the ages between 11 and 30. Its symptoms are excess oiliness of the skin, clogged pores, pimples, blackheads, and pus-filled lesions. Acne occurs as a reaction of our immune system to the abnormal growth of P. acnes bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes). P. acnes may start growing due to genetics or increase in androgen hormones.
MOA (mechanism of action)
Clindamycin binds to bacterial 50S ribosomal subunits and ruins the bacterial protein synthesis, therefore stops harmful bacteria growth. In topical administration (water-based gel formula in particular) Clindamycin demonstrates strong antibacterial activity against many Propionibacterium acnes strains.
Dosage
Clindac-A® Gel is normally applied to the skin 2 times a day, usually for 2-6 weeks. Some patients may need to prolong the treatment course up to 8-12 weeks for maximum improvements.
This medication works best if used at the same time each day.
Consult your doctor if you see no improvements in 2-6 weeks of Clindac-A® Gel usage.
Before you apply the gel, ensure that the application site is clean and dry. Apply a thin layer of the gel to the affected area.
Wash your hands before and after using Clindac-A® Gel.
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor.
Missing a dose
If you missed one Clindac-A® Gel application, you should apply it as soon as you remember about your missing. If it is time for the next application, skip the missed one and continue with your usual application schedule. Do not apply a double dose.
Overdose
Do not exceed the doctor's recommended dose. If an overdose occurs and you are feeling unwell, you should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately.
Storage
Store at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C) away from excess moisture, direct sunlight, and heat. Throw away any unused tube after the expiration date. Keep out of the reach of children.
