    Description

Zovirax eye ointment's raw material is Acyclovir, which is a guanosine analog. This antiviral drug acts as an antimetabolite, meaning that interferes with the normal metabolic process.

    Indications:

    - inflammation of the front of the eye (cornea) due to infection with the herpes simplex virus (herpes simplex keratitis).

    MOA (mechanism of action):

Aciclovir works by blocking the action of a viral enzyme called DNA polymerase. The herpes virus needs this enzyme to copy its genetic material from RNA to DNA for further multiplying and survival. By blocking the action of DNA polymerase, Aciclovir averts the herpes virus from multiplying. This helps the immune system to deal with infection.
