    Active Ingredient:

    Timolol

    Description

Timol-P® eye drops are manufactured by Entod Pharmaceuticals. The active substance of these ophthalmic treatment is Timolol, a non-selective beta-adrenergic antagonist (beta-blocker). Timol-P® eye drops also contain Hypromellose (also known as hydroxypropyl methylcellulose or HPMC), a semisynthetic substitute for tear-film. Due to its high water solubility, Hypromellose hydrates the eyes, thickens the tear-film, aids in visual clarity and corneal protection.

    Indications:

    - high intraocular pressure (IOP) due to primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) or chronic glaucoma;

    - ocular hypertension due to other eye conditions (eye trauma, pseudoexfoliation syndrome, pigment dispersion syndrome and corneal arcus).

    MOA (mechanism of action):

Timolol is a hypotensive and antiglaucoma agent effective at lowering high, as well as normal, IOP through inhibiting the synthesis of aqueous humor. It can reduce the tension inside the eyes without having any effect on pupil size or accommodation. Although Timolol helps in controlling glaucoma, it does not cure this disorder.

    Dosage

For increased IOP in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension

Adults: instill 1 drop of Timolol 0,5% solution in the treated eye(s) 1 time daily in the morning.

Children over 2 years: instill 1 drop of Timolol 0,25% solution in treated eye(s) 2 times daily.

Dosage may be increased to 1 drop of a 0,5% solution 2 times daily, if necessary for adequate reduction of IOP.

Dosage may be reduced to 1 drop once daily of effective strength to maintain reduced pressure.

The onset of reduction in IOP can be noticed within 30 minutes after a single dose of Timol-P® eye drops. The effect lasts for as long as 24 hours.

Timol-P® eye drops are usually instilled until pressure in the eye is controlled (about 4 weeks).

    Precautions

Timol-P® eye drops are not intended for use in children under 2 years of age.

Timol-P® solution is for topical ophthalmic use only, not for injection.

Concomitant therapy with other ophthalmic medications for lowering IOP can be instituted.

Timol-P® solution is associated with allergic reactions, even following a single dose. Discontinue using Timol-P® immediately and contact your physician at the first sign of a rash or allergic reaction.

Avoid contaminating the applicator tip with eye, fingers or another source.

Contact lenses should be removed before administrating Timol-P® eye drops and may be reinserted after 15 minutes.

Reduced doses of Timolol solution should be used in patients with hepatic disease.

Wash your hands before using the eye drops.

    Missing a dose

If you miss a dose you should instill it as soon as you remember about your missing. If it is the time for the next dose you should continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not instill a double dose to make up for a missed one.

    Overdose

If an overdose occurs and you are not feeling well, stop taking the medication immediately. You should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Store at room temperature between 2 to 25 degrees C (36 to 77 degrees F), away from moisture and heat. Do not freeze. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use. Use within one month after opening a container. Keep out of the reach of children.
