    Active Ingredient:

    Budesonide

    Description

Derinide® AQ Nasal Spray is manufactured by Zydus Cadila and marketed by German Remedies. Its active ingredient Budesonide is a glucocorticosteroid, topical antiinflammatory agent.

    Indications:

    - treatment and prevention of symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis;

    - treatment of symptoms of nasal polyps.

    MOA (mechanism of action):

Budesonide is an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid that exhibits potent glucocorticoid activity and weak mineralocorticoid activity. Corticosteroids have been shown to have a wide range of inhibitory activities against multiple cell types (e.g., mast cells, eosinophils, neutrophils, macrophages, and lymphocytes) and mediators (e.g., histamine, eicosanoids, leukotrienes, and cytokines) involved in allergic and non-allergic-mediated inflammation. These anti-inflammatory actions of Budesonide may contribute to their efficacy in the treatment of allergic rhinitis.

    Dosage

For allergic rhinitis in adults and children from 6 years of age: 256 mcg may be administered once daily in the morning or divided into two administrations, in the morning and in the evening.

2 actuations into each nostril once daily in the morning or 1 actuation into each nostril in the morning and in the evening.

Children should be treated under supervision of an adult.

Treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis should be initiated, if possible, before the patient is exposed to allergens.

Concomitant therapy may sometimes be necessary to treat the symptoms affecting the eye caused by the allergy.

The desired clinical effect appears within about 1-2 weeks.

Afterwards, the lowest dose should be chosen that keeps the patient just without symptoms. No better efficacy is to be expected with a dose greater than 256 mcg.

For nasal polyps in adults and children from 6 years of age: 256 mcg. The dose may be administered once daily in the morning or divided into two administrations, in the morning and in the evening.

2 actuations into each nostril once daily in the morning or 1 actuation into each nostril in the morning and in the evening.

Children should be treated under supervision of an adult.

After the desired clinical effect has appeared, the lowest dose should be chosen that keeps the patient without symptoms.

    Precautions:

In long-term treatment with Derinide® AQ Nasal Spray, the nasal mucosa should be inspected regularly e.g. every 6 months.

Visual disorders may be reported with Derinide® AQ Nasal Spray use. If a patient develops symptoms such as blurred vision or other visual disturbances, the patient should be considered for referral to an ophthalmologist for evaluation of possible causes which may include cataract, glaucoma or rare diseases such as central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) which have been reported after use of systemic and topical corticosteroids.

Derinide® AQ Nasal Spray contains potassium sorbate and may cause skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).

    Missing a dose

If you miss a dose you should spray it as soon as you remember about your missing. If it is the time for the next dose you should continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not spray a double dose of Derinide® AQ Nasal Spray to compensate the missed dose.

    Overdose

If an overdose occurs and you are not feeling well, stop taking the medication immediately. You should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately.

    Storage

Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F) and away from excess moisture and heat. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date. Keep out of the reach of children.
