    Description

This medication is manufactured by Cipla and contains the active ingredient Beclomethasone which is a type of medicine known as a corticosteroid. The drug is used in the management of mild, moderate or severe asthma. Beclate® Rotacaps work by targeting the inflammation causing factors, inhibit them and do not allow to accumulate and cause asthmatic conditions. Taken by the oral inhaled route, the medication is released in a form of the dry powder that reaches the site of action and produces its effect directly in the lungs. This minimizes the side effects shown by medicines of other forms of administration. Beclate® Rotacaps are to be used for a long-term treatment even a patient feels better and shows no asthma symptoms. The medication is not useful in the case of an acute asthma attack and for this patients will require a fast- and short-acting inhaled bronchodilator.

    Indications:

Beclate® Rotacaps are indicated for the asthma management in the following groups of patients:

    - Patients with mild asthma requiring intermittent symptomatic bronchodilator asthma medication on more than an occasional basis.

    - Patients with moderate asthma requiring regular asthma medication.

    - Patients with unstable or worsening asthma on other prophylactic therapy or bronchodilator alone.

    - Patients with severe chronic asthma.

    MOA (mechanism of action):

Beclomethasone, a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid, works by blocking the production of inflammatory chemicals released in the airways in response to asthma trigger, such as allergens or irritants in the air. The medicine reduces inflammation and bronchial edema, the underlying causes of asthma along with bronchospasm, which is constriction (narrowing of the bronchioles (small airways). Beclomethasone acts directly on the airway walls to reduce inflammatory reactions that helps prevent symptoms of asthma like wheezing, cough, tightness of the chest and shortness of breath. Beclometasone controls the rate of protein synthesis, depresses the migration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes, fibroblasts, reverses capillary permeability and lysosomal stabilization at the cellular level to prevent inflammation in the lungs. It does not relieve an acute bronchospasm which happens during an asthma attack and needs a ‘reliever’ medication to open the airways.

    Dosage

Beclate® Rotacaps should be used for the oral inhalation with the help the Cipla Rotahaler/Revolizer. The medicine must not be swallowed. The dosage highly depends on the severity of asthma and to be prescribed by a doctor for each patient individually.
